England, led by Harry Brook, is ushering in a new era for white-ball cricket and is doing so with style. They swept West Indies in a three-game series and have already taken two out of three in the ongoing T20I series. The new lads in the team are doing great, with Tom Banton stepping up well in the lower middle order. They want to keep it going for the T20 World Cup in 2026.
During a chat on Sky Sports, Simon Doull said it could be that Stokes might make a comeback for the World Cup, despite the influx of new talent. He spoke about Brook’s thoughts on batting depth, and Doull says the management seems desperate to get Stokes back. Stokes could provide a tremendous balance to this team, where they want two specialist fast bowlers, alongside spinners like Jacob Bethell and Will Jacks with Adil Rashid.
The way things are going, Doull really thinks England is banking heavily on having Stokes at the 2026 T20 World Cup. He is confident the team and management will convince him because his presence will enable them to stick with two genuine seamers and get the spin options they want.

The upcoming T20 World Cup would be held in India and Sri Lanka, so if Stokes is available, that would be a huge plus for England. Sri Lanka and India generally favor spin bowling in such conditions, so even just a single additional seam option with Stokes would pay dividends.
