The Indian team is keeping the practice match before the Test series against England under wraps, just like European football clubs. This four-day game starts on June 13 and won’t be telecasted unlike the recent India ‘A’ matches against England Lions and it won’t be a First-Class game. There won’t be a public scorecard either.
With the IPL 2025 wrapping up late, this will be the only red-ball practice for some players who didn’t play in the India ‘A’ games. It gives the coaching staff, including Gambhir, to figure out things like the batting order after the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and try out different bowling combinations.
Some players from the India ‘A’ squad who aren’t in the Test team stayed back and might get a chance if there’s an injury. Gambhir who is feeling the heat after losing his last two series as coach is trying to rally the team.
