Gautam Gambhir, the coach of the Indian team, has had to rush back to India suddenly. This is just before the senior team was to play an intra-squad match against India A team in Kent this Friday. The Indian team is in UK right now and gearing up for a 5 match Test series against England starting from June 20 at Headingley.
According to a report from Revsportz, Gambhir had to leave because his mother had a heart attack and is in ICU in the hospital. This must be really tough for him especially with the Test series around the corner.

This Test series is important because it marks the beginning of a new cycle for India’s World Test Championship. Gambhir took over as coach last year after the T20 World Cup and has had his share of challenges. The team has had its share of ups and downs including losses to New Zealand and Australia in Test matches. He did manage to achieve a big thing when India won the Champions Trophy in 2025.

This England tour is also his first as a member of the support staff. It’s a big deal for many reasons and I hope he manages to balance his personal and professional life and keep moving forward for his family and Indian cricket.
