As India gets ready to face England in the 5th Test at The Oval in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Michael Atherton thinks Gautam Gambhir will be under pressure if they don’t win the series. England is 2-1 up so India needs to tie or lose a third series on the trot.
Atherton told Sky Sports Cricket that since India has lost two series in a row (New Zealand 3-0 at home and Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1), Gambhir will be in trouble if they lose this one.
India’s Test form has been woeful lately, especially after the losses to New Zealand and Australia. Losing this series would mean three Test series losses on the trot.
Atherton said India has a lot of resources and people so they should win every time. Three Test series losses in a row would be a problem for Gambhir.
