Harbhajan Singh recently went on R Ashwin’s YouTube channel to chat about many things. He spoke openly on the podcast. Harbhajan who retired in 2021 also spoke about India’s top match-winner with the ball. While mentioning Kapil Dev, he chose Anil Kumble as India’s biggest match-winner.
Harbhajan and Kumble were teammates for years. Kumble was sometimes left out of the playing eleven in ODIs.
I played with Anil when we were in Chennai for Chemplast. He was my first captain there. People can say I took wickets and so did you or even Kapil but I think Anil Kumble is India’s best match-winner and the biggest fighter on the field. We all admired him. He had a plan, a ‘This is how it’s done and I will do it’ kind of attitude,” Harbhajan said on Ashwin’s YouTube channel.
He wouldn’t depend on others. He was a leader showing us how to do things. Whatever cricket I played with him and what I achieved while playing together I give him credit for guiding me and showing me the right way.
