The Mumbai Indians‘ captain Hardik Pandya said his team knows the game plan well-simplified cricket. They just accounted for their sixth consecutive win in IPL 2025, moving closer to qualifying for the playoffs while kicking out their opponents-Rajasthan Royals. In the post-match, after Mumbai scored a massive 217 runs and won by a colossal 100, Pandya mentioned another record in IPL history for having four top batters scoring above 45 runs in one inning.
“The emphasis is back on solid batting; finding gaps and running hard. We really batted well as a side,” Pandya said in a post-match presentation. Rohit Sharma displayed good batting skills yet again with his third half-century in four matches without hitting a single six. Just a few days back, Virat Kohli had shared his thoughts on why batting this season has become more about picking the moments to accelerate, as opposed to going hard as it had been in the past.”
“Those are the guys I target; I keep getting singles and doubles and then hit the odd boundary. This year, it’s not just a mindless offensive game- you have to read the conditions and plan,” said Kohli.
The bowlers have got the best of IPL 2025 now that the ban on saliva has been lifted and a second new ball is in use in evening matches. Speaking of which, Hardik has also revealed the plan of sending Suryakumar Yadav to No. 3 and himself to No. 4 instead of bringing in Will Jacks after the first wicket fell. “We would have added another 15 runs. We were trying to play smart shots. Surya and I thought those shots were valuable. Rohit and Ryan also played it in the same manner. It has worked out quite well,” concluded him. MI now has the next match on May 6 at home against the Gujarat Titans.
