The International Cricket Council announced the match officials for the much-awaited World Test Championship Final between Australia and South Africa. The much-awaited Final, considered an opportunity too good to miss, will take place at the Lord’s from June 11 to June 15. The on-field umpires will be Chris Gaffaney of New Zealand and Richard Illingworth of England. This is Illingworth’s third consecutive WTC Final, so he did panel duties in 2021 and 2023 as well. He is the current ICC Umpire of the Year and was awarded the David Shepherd Trophy four times, with the most recent instance in the year prior. On a side note, Gaffaney was the official for the recently-concluded T20 World Cup Final and the WTC Final 2025 between India and Australia in 2023 as well.
England’s Richard Kettleborough will take charge of the third umpire rolе. Kettleborough has officiated in various ICC events, including the Men’s 50-over World Cups and Champions Trophy. He was the TV umpire for the 2021 WTC Final between India and New Zealand. Indian umpire Nitin Menon has been named to the fourth umpire role, which is his first WTC Final, though he was TV umpire in the 2021 T20 World Cup Final.

Former Indian cricketer Javagal Srinath has been appointed to officiate as the Match Referee. The ICC Chairman, Jay Shah, spoke well of the officials’ experience and wished them the best in the Final.
