The 14-years-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been in the limelight for being bought by the Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Dubai. He made history by becoming the youngest player to have ever been auctioned in the IPL, and shortly after, he made his way into the tournament. In his very first match for the RR, he attracted attention by taking a six on the very first ball he faced from the Lucknow Super Giants. And in his third match, he stunned an entire nation by smashing a 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans.
But the very next incident after this success was one of the many controversies surrounding Vaibhav. A video circulation showed someone from their locality claiming that Vaibhav was actually 16 and not 14. This person said that Vaibhav’s dad fought hard for his cricket dreams and commented that Vaibhav was so talented that he started tournaments with sixes.

-He used to start with six every tournament
-His father did a lot of hardships we can't even imagine
-He is actually 16 years pic.twitter.com/RgJ5gl5wAu
The whispers of age fraud began, where players are suspected to lie about their ages to gain an unfair advantage. Age fraud has been an issue in Indian sporting circles for some time now, especially in the youth competitions, but till now, we have no official proof of any wrongdoing by Vaibhav.
While all this drama is going on, Vaibhav is simply terrific. He opened the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal and made 101 from just 38 balls, having 11 sixes and 7 fours. It turned out to be the second-fastest century in IPL history! Meanwhile, RR, who suffered five losses in a row, bounced back with a victory over GT and showed their thanks to Vaibhav. In a disappointing eighth place on the points table, after winning three of the ten matches, they are hopeful that their playoffs dream will revive.
