Jasprit Bumrah has taken 50 wickets in England. He is the third Asian bowler to do so, after Wasim Akram (53) and Ishant Sharma (51).
Bumrah achieved this feat against England in the 4th Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy at Old Trafford on Friday. He has 50 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 26.38 and economy rate of 2.79. He has 4 four-wicket hauls to his name. At the end of day three he had bowled 15 overs, given away 48 runs and taken 1 wicket. His match figures are 1/95 in 28 overs.
He is the third highest wicket-taker in the series with 13 wickets in 5 innings at an average of 26.69, 2 five-wicket hauls. These numbers are still not great as he was returning to Tests after an injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 against Australia where he took 32 wickets at an average of 13.06, 2 four-wicket hauls and 3 five-wicket hauls.
England started the day at 225/2, Ollie Pope (20*) and Joe Root (11*) not out. They went on to add to the work of openers Ben Duckett (94) and Zak Crawley (84). They took England to 332/2 at the end of the first session, both of them scoring their fifties.
In the second session Washington Sundar (2/57) removed Ollie (71) and Harry Brook (3) but Stokes and Root stopped India from making any further inroads. Root scored his 38th Test century and went past Ricky Ponting to become the second-highest Test run-scorer.

England finished the second session at 433/4, Stokes and Root still at the crease. Siraj and Bumrah had fitness issues during the session and Bumrah bowled only one over with the new ball.Stokes got his fifty in the last session but left the field due to a left leg issue. Jadeja removed Root for 150. Bumrah and Siraj quickly removed Jamie Smith (9) and Chris Woakes (4) and England were 528/7. But Stokes (77*) came back to bat and along with Liam Dawson (21*) prevented any further collapse. England ended the day at 544/7, ahead by 186 runs.
Earlier England chose to bowl first after winning the toss and India scored 358. Half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan (61), Yashasvi Jaiswal (58) and Rishabh Pant (54) were India’s main contributions. Stokes (5/72) put pressure on India and didn’t allow them to build a big partnership.
