The ICC released the updated Test rankings today. Joe Root is the new number one Test batsman, beating Harry Brook. Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant have slipped in the rankings.
Harry Brook, who was number one, slipped one place after a poor show in the Lord’s Test against India. He scored 34 runs in both innings.
So he is one of those who have slipped in the rankings along with Shubman Gill (down three places to 9th), Yashasvi Jaiswal (down one to 5th) and Rishabh Pant (down one to 8th).
Joe Root’s performance at Lord’s earned him enough points to become the new number one Test batsman. He scored a century in the first innings and helped England win by a narrow margin.
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja climbed five places to 34th in the batsmen’s rankings after a good show in the second innings.
