A statement from the Gujarat Titans (GT) said South African bowler Kagiso Rabada is again eligible for IPL 2025 with effect from the date the one-month suspension ends for committing an anti-doping violation involving a banned recreational drug. Rabada had walked out from the GT camp after their opening two matches, with the franchise terming it at the time as ‘personal reasons.’ Later, the off-spinner deposed that, before the season started in South Africa, he had used a banned substance.
Rabada was spotted at team practice ahead of the Mumbai Indians game at Wankhede, engaging in light banter with teammates and conversing with head coach Ashish Nehra. GT director of cricket Vikram Solanki gave some insight into Rabada’s circumstances and stated that the team stands with him.
“About Kagiso, I want to mention a few things,” said Solanki, according to ESPNcricinfo. “First and foremost, Kagiso has expressed remorse for his indiscretion. His statement reflects who he is as a person, and he is looking forward to being back on the field. He has learnt a lesson from this experience, and we are all really happy to have him back in practice alongside us.”
He further stated, “Throughout this whole thing, all the correct procedures have been followed by everybody involved-from Kagiso himself to his representative. We do understand how emotional this issue can be. Now that he has served his time, we just want to see him back at doing what he loves and helping the team.”
