As India prepares to play five Tests in England, Kuldeep Yadav has been spending a lot of time with Ravindra Jadeja, both on and off the field. Kuldeep said he’s learning a lot from Jadeja, asking questions and trying to improve. He’s played only one Test in England, back in 2018 at Lord’s, where he bowled nine overs without taking a wicket. But since then he’s really come of age, taking 56 wickets in 13 Tests at 22.16, which is impressive for a spinner.
Jadeja is likely to be the main spinner for this tour given his all-round abilities but if the conditions are right Kuldeep might get a chance too. He was key in India’s 4-1 win over England at home earlier this year, taking 19 wickets in four matches.
Kuldeep said he feels privileged to be playing alongside Jadeja. He said, “Jadeja and Ashwin have been amazing these last few years. When I started playing in India, they supported me a lot. We’re chatting about how to bowl to certain batsmen, especially since the English batsmen are in good form right now.”

He added that he’s been spending a lot of time with Jadeja, not just on the field but off it. This has helped him with strategies and field placements. Kuldeep also joked about sitting next to Jadeja on the team bus now that Rohit Sharma has retired from Test cricket. “I can never take Rohit bhai’s place,” he laughed. “I’m just learning as much as I can from Jaddu bhai. With Ash bhai gone, I want to soak up whatever tips I can from the senior players.”
