The Royal Challengers Bengaluru grabbed their maiden IPL trophy in a nail-biting final against Punjab Kings held by six runs. This was a big moment for fans who had been rooting for these champions. The players were emotional too; Virat Kohli had tears in his eyes even before the last ball was bowled. RCB last reached the finals in 2016, only to have a heartbreaking finish then.
One of the members of the side was Stuart Binny, who’s better half is none other than IPL anchor Mayanti Langer. When the 2018 winning side was parading the trophy around the ground, Mayanti expressed a wish to touch it: Given that my husband was part of that team that lost in 2016 and because he is from Bengaluru, this win means so much to me. Please, Virat, let me touch the IPL trophy. I cannot believe RCB actually won.

The match turned out to be full of highs and lows. At the halfway point, Punjab Kings looked in a good position after restricting RCB to 190. But on their turn, those who were supposed to hold the innings quickly got bogged down in dismissals. By the last few overs, luck was paramount, and despite Shashank Singh striking 61 off 30 balls, it was six runs short.
