According to the former England cricketer, the forthcoming Test series against England beginning next month will get a massive fillip with the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The two players are stepping away from Test cricket at this moment to really make way for a new captain who will lead India in the next World Test Championship cycle.
But Moeen acknowledges the performance of Rohit very well by reckoning how Rohit was the highest run-scorer for India in that series with 368 runs and declared that probably the absence of these two players will destroy the leadership in the Indian team. “It’s definitely a big boost for England. They’ve faced England a few times and have valuable experience. I remember how well Rohit played last time,” Moeen said to Sky Sports.
He described the former duo as leaders; they both have captained India in Tests, and with their retirements, the game has lost a whole lot of personality. The Board of Control for Cricket in India had also not yet announced the squad for the England tour or the new captain.

Moeen, meanwhile, said that Kohli’s retirement was a major blow to Test cricket. He was a central figure who had always stood behind the format; indeed he was a pioneer, a magnificent player with the career-of-a-lifetime, someone who was second only to Sachin Tendulkar in terms of whom the crowds wanted to watch. He brought the crowds to the stadiums and had an incredible record himself. He fought hard and was also a great captain. It is a tough loss for Test cricket,” he added.
