Mohammad Amir, the former bowler of Pakistan, said that he would be open to playing in the Indian Premier League if he got the chance. Otherwise, he would continue to play in the Pakistan Super League which he really wants to get into at a leading T20 league in India. This IPL-PSL conflict occurs current, with both the IPL and PSL 2025 going on while Amir is joined to the Quetta Gladiators.
When Amir was asked in a conversation with Geo News, which league he would choose in a scenario where both leagues have their events in full motion, he replied frankly: “If I get the opportunity, I will play in the IPL but if I don’t then I will be in the PSL. I hope next year I get my shot at IPL and if I do then I’m all for it.”
He explained further that he doesn’t think the two leagues will conflict next year. This year’s ICC Champions Trophy, he pointed out, really was a big deal. If he enters PSL first this time, the player cannot back out due to its clause of not being permitted to enter the tournament.
Even so, Amir collected four wickets in three PSL matches but isn’t doing that well with his economy rate of 9.73.
In other news, an unfortunate incident hit the headline when terrorists attacked a crowded tourist hub in Pahalgam, Kashmir, snuffing the lives of at least 26 people and injuring many others. This development is building more tension in India’s complex relations with Pakistan.
After the attack, candlelight marches and demonstrations were conducted in Delhi to express solidarity for victims. The Aam Aadmi Party held a vigil at Jantar Mantar, where party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj condemned the attack, labeling it as one of the deadliest ever after the 2019 Pulwama incident. The Congress’ youth wing also conducted candle march at their office. With things escalating, it seems improbable that a Pakistani cricketer will be part of IPL 2026.
