After losing the first Test to England at Leeds where they couldn’t defend 371, India needs to relook at their bowling strategy for the second Test.
Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav are being considered for the second Test but there are hints that Yadav might be left out. Mohammad Kaif, a former Indian player, disagrees with this idea.
This decision on Kuldeep Yadav has sparked a debate. Though seen as a great spinner, Kuldeep has played only 13 Tests in 8 years, often sitting out because of Ravichandran Ashwin. Now that Ashwin has retired, there is an opening for a second spinner, putting coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill under pressure.
Mohammad Kaif strongly backs Kuldeep’s inclusion saying it would be unfair to leave him out.
Kaif posted on X, saying it would not be right if Kuldeep Yadav is not in the playing XI for the second Test and that he has not had enough chances.

Kaif’s opinion shows the pressure on Gambhir and Gill to give Kuldeep a chance to show what he can do in Test cricket as he has been overshadowed by Ashwin for a long time. India’s hope of drawing the series depends on fixing their bowling which couldn’t defend a big score despite centuries from Rishabh Pant and others in Leeds. People are waiting to see who will be in the final XI.
