According to former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, the Lucknow Super Giants should concentrate on selecting fit players who can actually operate on the field instead of spending a fortune on stars who have a tendency to get injured. The SunRisers Hyderabad thumped the Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets, thus knocking LSG out of the IPL 2025 play-offs. On that particular day, the bowlers from the LSG side could neither keep the batsmen from getting away nor put any pressure on Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen, helping the visitors find the record mark of 206 runs at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Pant even blamed the bowling for being erratic on the day of the match and said that missing key bowlers had really hurt the team this season. Whereas Kaif spoke up for something more radical, stating that the team really must think of keeping players who can stay fit throughout an entire season rather than investing money in the players that carry an injury record.
LSG had retained Nicholas Pooran for Rs 21 crore, Ravi Bishnoi for Rs 11 crore, Mayank Yadav for Rs 11 crore, Mohsin Khan for Rs 4 crore, and Ayush Badoni for Rs 4 crore in the 2024 auction; on the other hand, both Mayank and Mohsin were injured for majority of the season. Mayank has only played in two games due to injury, bowling quite slowly, with an economy of 50.
I’d rather spend the money on players deserving to play the whole season. LSG’s bowling attack is synonymous with injury. Injuries are bound to happen, but for those who get injured too often, it makes no sense to keep a big-bucks contract for them. Instead, they should be auction buys, Kaif said after the game.

With two games left, Lucknow hopes to at least seal a win in one of them.
