Mustafizur Rahman, the Bangladeshi bowler, has now more T20 international wickets than England’s Adil Rashid. He is now 5th in the list of highest wicket takers.
He achieved this feat in the match against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Wednesday. Mustafizur has 136 wickets in 109 games, average 21.33 and economy 7.42. He has 2 five wicket hauls, best bowling 6/10. He is Bangladesh’s 2nd highest wicket taker, behind Shakib Al Hasan who has 149 wickets in 129 matches.
In the match, Mahedi Hasan’s 4 wickets and Tanzid Hasan’s quick 50 helped Bangladesh win the series. They won the 2nd T20I by 8 wickets on Wednesday. Bangladesh lost the Test and ODI series. Sri Lanka decided to bat first after winning the toss.
Mahedi’s early bowling put Sri Lanka in trouble, reducing them to 49/4 in 7.4 overs. He completed his 4 wickets by dismissing Pathum Nissanka (46 off 39 balls), leaving Sri Lanka 66/5. Kamindu Mendis (21 off 15 balls) and Dasun Shanaka (35* off 25 balls) added some runs, taking Sri Lanka to 132/7 in 20 overs.
Mahedi’s 4 overs were impressive, he only allowed 11 runs and took 4 wickets. Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Shamim Hossain took one wicket each.

Chasing 133, Bangladesh lost Parvez Hossain Emon for a duck. But Tanzid Hasan (73* off 47 balls) fought back and with captain Litton Das (32* off 26 balls) they added 74 runs. Tanzid stayed till the end and with Towhid Hridoy (27* off 25 balls) they won the match with 21 balls remaining. Nuwan Thushara and Kamindu took a wicket each. Mahedi was declared ‘Man of the Match’ for his bowling.
