Faf du Plessis, the old South African batter, is back for another round of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He captained Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the past three years, but in IPL 2025, he’ll be with Delhi Capitals. Before the season starts this Saturday in Kolkata, a lot of fans got a surprise: a Faf du Plessis was announced as the captain of Namibia’s U-19 team for the next World Cup qualifiers. Funny enough, the 17-year-old captain of Namibia U19 shares a name with the South African legend.
Namibia is playing in the U-19 World Cup Division 1 Qualifiers (African edition). Their first game is against Nigeria on March 28. After that, they’ll face Kenya, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Oh, and speaking of the South African Faf du Plessis, he’s been picked as the vice-captain of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025.
DC announced it on X with a video. In it, Faf is on the phone, saying stuff like I’m at home, Delhi has been great, and the boys have been fantastic, showing he feels close to the team. He also confirmed he’s the vice-captain of Delhi Capitals and is really excited.
He’ll be helping out Indian all-rounder Axar, who’s the captain this season. Axar, 31, first joined the Capitals in 2019 and has since become one of their best players over six seasons, always stepping up when it counts.
Faf has a lot of IPL experience, including captaining Dubai for three seasons and getting them to the playoffs twice. In 145 IPL games, Faf has scored 4,571 runs with an average of 35.99 and a strike rate of over 136, including 37 scores over fifty and a top score of 96.
