Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Nitish Rana is ruled out for the remainder of IPL 2025 due to an injury. In his stead, the team has recruited South African batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius. This was relayed to the public by the IPL on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Rana had his moments in the season with two brilliant fifties to his name. He amassed 217 runs at an average of 21.70, with his strike rate being 161.94. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 4.2 Crores in last year’s auction. Rana started well with a knock of 81 against CSK but failed to maintain consistency with a series of low scores including four occasions where he couldn’t even reach double digits.
Lhuan-dre Pretorius enters as the new star after being noticed in the SA20 2025 season. Representing Paarl Royals, he was the leading run-scorer and in the entire tournament amassed 397 runs at an average of 33.08 and a strike rate of 166.81. His hard-hitting approach to batting has made Lhuan-dre a poster boy for the young generation of batsmen to keep an eye on. In his 33 T20 matches so far, he has scored 911 runs at an average of 27.60 and a mighty strike rate of 147.17.
