In a Wednesday announcement, the PCB declared that next month they would host a five-match T20 international series against Bangladesh, firmly in the interest of preparing for the 2026 World Cup. Changing from the earlier itinerary of two ODIs and T20s, they had decided on a different course.
An official announcement further stated that both boards were in agreement to switch the schedule, wherein the three ODIs would be replaced with two T20 games. This development looks good because the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is coming up next year.
From May 25 to June 3, the first two games will be played in Faisalabad before three more games will take place in Lahore. Exciting news for Faisalabad: The Iqbal Stadium is back after 17 years! The stadium itself has a rich history, having hosted 24 Test matches and 16 ODIs from 1978 to 2008. The last ODI there was played in April 2008, where Pakistan took on Bangladesh.
The T20 World Cup is coming up in February and March, with India and Sri Lanka set to host it. This series, then, continues the preparations of both teams for a bigger international cricketing challenge.
