The International Cricket Council (ICC) has charged Indian opener Pratika Rawal and the England team for separate Code of Conduct breaches during the first Women’s ODI.
Harmanpreet Kaur got India off to a good start in the series, winning the first match by 4 wickets. Post the game, the ICC took action against Rawal and the English team for breaching the code of conduct.
Rawal played well, scoring 36 before being bowled by Sophie Ecclestone in the 19th over. She was found to have made physical contact with Ecclestone and Lauren Filer which the ICC deemed as a Level 1 offence. She was fined 10% of her match fees and received a demerit point.
The English team was found to have breached article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate offences. They were one over short of their target time. As a result the ICC imposed 5% penalty on each of the England players including captain Nat Sciver-Brunt.
