During a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 game, Quetta Gladiators bowler Mohammad Amir and Peshawar Zalmi opener Saim Ayub had a heated moment. While they exchanged words on the field, Babar Azam ended up suffering the most.
On April 12, 2025, Peshawar Zalmi played against Quetta Gladiators in the second game of the PSL 2025 season. The situation occurred in the first over of Zalmi’s attempt to chase down a huge 217-run target set by Quetta.
With high expectations for both teams, things got tense when Mohammad Amir bowled the first over to Saim Ayub. After a delivery, Saim appeared to say something to Amir, which led to a verbal back-and-forth. Amir made gestures and yelled at Ayub, then walked toward him, obviously angry. Saim turned to face him, standing his ground. The umpire stepped in to calm things down.
But the drama didn’t stop there. On the last ball of the same over, Amir bowled a fast ball that got Zalmi captain Babar Azam out for a duck after only two balls. This was a big setback for Peshawar at the start of their innings, and it added to the talk about Amir disrupting Zalmi with his aggressive start.

This early confrontation helped the Quetta Gladiators, as Abrar Ahmed took 4 wickets, leading to Peshawar Zalmi being bowled out for 136 runs. Quetta won by a large margin of 80 runs.
Despite Ayub scoring a half-century, six Zalmi batters were dismissed without scoring, making their chase difficult. In the end, Mohammad Amir’s Gladiators defeated Babar Azam’s Zalmi decisively.
