The 18th IPL season just closed, with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally making the sweep of their first-ever title. There were then record TV viewers for this season, and the brand of the league continues to gather strength. It is the second-most-valuable league in the world right now, after the NFL. However, there is a considerable difference in the valuation. The Punjab Kings‘ owner says that a longer timeframe will help build IPL.
With a big shareholding in the team is Mohit Burman; he informed that the NFL lasts about 4.5 months, whereas the Premier League and the NBA last longer. He proposed that instead of the current 9-10 weeks window, the IPL could stretch to 12-16 weeks. “Per-match value-wise, we do very well, but overall brand value? That’s a different ball game. We need time to tell better stories and form rivalries that the fans will really love,” he told PTI.
