So, Rahul Dravid, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) coach, hurt his leg playing in a local cricket game for Vijaya Cricket Club back in February. The team announced it on social media, saying he’d be at their pre-IPL 2025 camp in Jaipur on Wednesday.
Fans were pretty surprised to see Dravid playing in that local match with his son, Anvay. Dravid Sr. scored 10 runs, while Anvay hit 58 runs. Vijaya ended up with 345 runs against Young Lions Club. Not sure if that’s where Rahul got injured, but…
The Royals posted on social media: Coach Rahul Dravid is doing fine after he hurt himself playing cricket in Bangalore. He’s joining us in Jaipur today! The post showed Dravid with a heavily strapped leg.

Dravid was in Guwahati for the Royals’ pre-season camp and came back to the city for a bit in February. Anvay is a wicketkeeper-batter, and Dravid’s older son, Samit, is a fast bowler, all-rounder.
It’s not rare to see fathers and sons playing together. Some other father-son duos who’ve played together are WG Grace-Grace Jr, Lala-Surinder Amarnath, Dennis-Adam Lillee, Denis-Heath Streak, Shivnarine-Tagenarine Chanderpaul, and Ian-Liam Botham.
Dravid became the Royals’ head coach before the IPL 2025 season, not long after leaving his job as the national team coach after the 2024 T20 World Cup win. He used to be a captain and mentor for the Royals, and now he wants to help them finally win the title in 2025.
The Royals are kicking off their season against SunRisers Hyderabad on March 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
