The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have kicked off their IPL 2025 season in style, snagging two wins right out of the gate and landing themselves at the top of the points table. In their first match, they took on the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, and managed to come out on top. Following that, they faced off against the Chennai Super Kings and scored a victory that was particularly sweet for them. This win was extra special as it marked their first-ever victory against CSK in Chennai since the IPL started back in 2008, ending a long wait of 17 years for any success at that venue.
As RCB celebrated their achievement, a social media account called the RCB 12th Man Army couldn’t resist playing a lighthearted joke at the expense of former CSK player Ambati Rayudu. They posted a cheeky message asking where he had gone after RCB’s victory at Chepauk, saying, “A certain member on the panel has been found missing online for the last two hours. If anyone knows anything, please let us know. We hope Ambati Rayudu is okay.
Rayudu, who played for both the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians throughout his IPL career, took the tease in stride. He shared the post on his Instagram, appreciating the fun banter. He responded with a laugh, saying, “Hahahaha good one .. @rcbfans.official This is exactly how banter is supposed to be. You guys have a great team this year, and I hope for the best for you.”
In the match, RCB set a solid total of 196 runs, with captain Rajat Patidar leading the charge by scoring a half-century at 51 runs. He had strong backing from his teammates: Phil Salt put up 32 runs, Virat Kohli contributed with 31, and Devdutt Padikkal added 27 runs. Tim David also stepped up at the end, smashing 22 runs off just 8 balls to give RCB a late boost.
On the other hand, the batting performance from CSK left a lot to be desired as they struggled throughout the match, finishing at 146 runs for 8 wickets, which meant RCB secured a comfortable 50-run victory.
Next on their schedule, RCB is set to play their first home game of the season, where they will welcome former champions, the Gujarat Titans, on April 2. Meanwhile, CSK has a quick turnaround as they try to bounce back from their second defeat in a row, facing off against Rajasthan Royals later that same day in Guwahati.
