England’s team, led by Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum, have been trying to find their feet but missed out on the World Test Championship final. Now they’re up against a new-look Indian team under Shubman Gill’s captaincy and the first Test of the five-match series starts on June 20 in Leeds.
With the home advantage and India missing Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin, England will be feeling pretty confident. Stokes and Chris Woakes, two of their experienced players, have milestones to chase.
Stokes, known for his big performances, is 224 runs away from 11,000 international runs and 272 from 7,000 Test runs. He has 10,776 runs in 268 matches at 35.80 with 18 centuries and 60 fifties and a top score of 258.

As for Woakes, he has a big role to play with a new pace attack that includes Josh Tongue, Jamie Overton and Sam Cook in the absence of James Anderson and Stuart Broad. He’s 19 wickets away from 200 Test wickets and 15 from 400 international wickets. He has 181 wickets in 57 Tests at 28.24 with best figures of 6/17 and five five-wicket hauls and a ten-wicket match. He also has 137 wickets in 34 Tests at 21.59 at home and as he takes on this leadership role he can add even more to his cricketing legacy.
