Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant put the finger at injuries making holes in the roster after the auction for a rough IPL 2025 season. After losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets and getting knocked out of the play-offs, Pant noted there were gaps they chose to not focus on; however, these started to become quite hard to manage.
LSG, at the start, faced injuries to their chief pace-bowling contingent in the shape of Mohsin Khan, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, and Mayank Yadav. They surely had a bright finish in five wins out of eight games; however, after that, they then proceeded to lose another four matches, even with some of the bowlers making returns.
Pant commented, It could have been one of our best seasons, but with so many gaps early on and injuries, it got tough. We did have a solid batting lineup, which was a positive, and our bowlers showed promise, though they were inconsistent. Pant, too, found form hard coming by, scoring just 135 runs in 11 innings, besides making some questionable choices in a few games. For instance, against SRH, Pant got out for 7 after a rather good opening from the openers.
