India’s injury woes are mounting up in England. Rishabh Pant got hurt in the first innings of the 4th Test.
In the 68th over, Pant tried a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes and missed. The ball hit his toes and he looked in pain. He needed help to get off the field.
A BCCI source told The Indian Express that the scan showed a fracture and he is ruled out for 6 weeks. The medical team is seeing if he can bat with a pain killer but he still needs help to walk so his chances of batting are slim.
Ben Stokes chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul gave India a good start and made it to lunch on Day 1 without losing a wicket. After lunch Chris Woakes got KL Rahul and India lost 2 more wickets and were in trouble.
After tea B Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant tried to rebuild India’s innings and did a good job till Pant’s risky reverse sweep. After the injury Pant got off the field and Ravindra Jadeja came in to bat. Sudharsan also got out but Shardul Thakur and Jadeja helped India finish the day without any more wickets falling.
