Winning by 20 runs, the Mumbai Indians defeated the Gujarat Titans led by Shubman Gill in the Eliminator, thus ending the Titans in IPL 2025. Titans were set an improbable target of 229 runs and could bat only 20 overs for 208-6. There was a comfortable-looking situation for the Titans at 151-2 after 13 overs.
The former cricketer and CSK legend Robin Uthappa criticised Gill’s captaincy, saying that their game plan appeared to be more reactive than proactive. Talking on JioStar, he stated that giving the ball to Prasidh Krishna in the powerplay was a clear mistake, as he usually bowls very well in the middle overs.
He also explained that the fielding of the Titans was poor, as they dropped key catches in such an important match: You can’t drop that many catches and expect to win.

Prasidh went for 36 runs in just his first two powerplay overs. He then returned to bag two scalps while conceding only 17 runs in his next two overs to finish with 2-53. Sadly for the Titans, this defeat has knocked them out of the IPL 2025 Tournament with the Titans finishing third in the league stage.
