On Wednesday in the morning, an operation of missile strikes targeted terror sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, including places such as Bahawalpur, alleged to be a Jaish-e-Mohammad headquarters, and Muridke, considered a Lashkar-e-Taiba den. This operation is dubbed “Operation Sindoor” and was carried out two weeks after an attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead.
In his Instagram post against India’s actions, Sachin Tendulkar wrote saying terrorism has no place anywhere. He encouraged everyone to stay united and strong, saying, “We’re ONE TEAM!”
Post-strikes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened the Union Cabinet and will chair a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security for a situation review. According to reports, the Committee could pass a resolution on the operation. Modi had, in response to the Pahalgam attack, given liberty to the Armed Forces in the selection of targets and timing for their strike.
Prior to the meeting, the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval briefed the Prime Minister on all developments. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that the actions taken were very judicious and responsible. He pointed out that the United Nations had called for those responsible for the attack in Pahalgam to be put to account.
Misri stressed that justice must be served for the attack on April 22, since Pakistan has not yet taken any steps against terrorist groups within its own territory. He added that whenever the intelligence suggested that there might have been yet further attacks planned, therefore, it was imperative that it act then.
