The Bangladesh Cricket Board has installed Shaun Tait as the pace bowling coach for the series against the UAE. The former Australian pacer will remain with the team through the 2027 ODI World Cup, giving him a little over two years as a bowling coach. Having worked for cylinders previously with, Pakistan, West Indies, and Afghanistan, Tait has expressed interest in the role and aims to foster younger talent while achieving results.
“It’s a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now. There’s a lot of talk about the young talent we do have, especially among the fast bowlers. This isn’t just a development team; we need to see results, and that’s what I am focusing on with the fast bowlers to help the team win more matches,” said Tait.
He accepted the opportunity to work alongside Phil Simmons, the head coach. He replaces Andre Adams, who was with the team during the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy in 2025. Umar Gul was in contention for this role, but the BCB went with Tait.
The next assignment for Bangladesh is a two-match T20I series against the UAE, followed by a five-match T20I series against Pakistan, although the latter is yet to be finalized, as negotiations with India remain ongoing.
