Shoaib Akhtar has given his verdict on Pakistan cricket team’s performance. He says the team once had loads of natural talent but now players are prioritizing their own stats over the team’s success. He also pointed out that Pakistani batsmen struggle when the ball moves even slightly off the pitch.
His comments come after Pakistan’s heavy defeat in the third game against West Indies in Tarouba. Pakistan were bowled out for 92 while chasing 295 and that batting collapse exposed the team’s weaknesses and led to Akhtar’s criticism.
Akhtar was very harsh on the team’s lack of team work on the Game On Hai show. He recalled that in the past Pakistan had many talented players who all contributed to the team’s success. He said they never relied on just one player. He said everyone did their part.
Akhtar believes the team’s environment has changed and players are focusing too much on their personal performance. He says the main goal should be winning games for the country not improving individual averages.
Akhtar stressed that the team needs to change their mindset and culture. He wants the players to focus on a united intent driven approach not playing for individual glory. He asked why can’t they understand the need to adapt to modern cricket.

He said a change in the players’ mindset is needed and they need to play according to what modern cricket demands.
Akhtar also talked about the technical and environmental issues Pakistan is facing. He said even a little movement in the ball causes problems for the batsmen. He said they can’t expect pitches like Rawalpindi everywhere they play.
In that game three of Pakistan’s top four batsmen were dismissed for zero including captain Mohammad Rizwan. Babar Azam had his third poor performance in a row in the series. Akhtar said Pakistani batsmen struggle when the ball moves a bit as they are used to Rawalpindi pitches.
Pakistan will play a tri-series against Afghanistan and UAE. The series will start from August 29. Seales took West Indies to a 202 runs win against Pakistan in Tarouba on Tuesday. He bowled 6-18. Pakistan were bowled out for 92 while chasing 295.
