The Indian team is geared up to take on England in a series of five Test matches starting June 20 at Headingley in Leeds. This series will inaugurate the new World Test Championship cycle (2025-27). Shubman Gill will be leading India in what would be his maiden Test series as Captain. The team had just flown out of Mumbai with Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, and Prasidh Krishna, among others, seen boarding their flight to England.
Before the series begins, India will play an intra-squad match against India A on June 13 at Kent County Ground, Beckenham. In the run-up to the ongoing series, Gill spoke about his responsibilities as Test captain. With the exit of big names like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, there has been a lot of talk regarding where Gill would bat in the lineup. He stated that they will determine the batting order after the London training camp.
Gill also spoke of the pressure involved with losing two seniors in the setup. The pressure is always there on every tour. Losing players like them is tough, but the rest of us are used to handling it.
