Sources say Shadab Khan might miss the 2025 Asia Cup due to a shoulder injury. Also, Pakistan hasn’t picked a vice-captain for the West Indies tour while he’s out. Head coach Mike Hesson is waiting for Shadab to return to the T20I team.
They have a good relationship from their time with Islamabad United in the PSL. Hesson supports Shadab and wants him to stay on as T20I vice-captain.
But cricketpakistan.com.pk says Shadab has been getting criticism from a selector who doesn’t think he should be in the T20I team. This selector is accusing Shadab of trying to get certain players onto the team. The report says that while Agha Salman is trying to help the team improve, Shadab has been spending his time trying to get others to bring his friends back into the team.

Apparently these actions annoyed the selector and now he thinks bringing Shadab back was a mistake. If Shadab is cleared to play by October it wouldn’t be surprising if he doesn’t make the team.
Shadab Khan, an all-rounder, didn’t do well in New Zealand, scoring only 58 runs in four innings. He did better in the Bangladesh T20Is, 55 runs and 4 wickets in three games. Since he might not play in the Asia Cup it will be interesting to see who the PCB picks to replace him for the tournament.
