Vansh Bedi, a wicketkeeper-batter from Delhi, was part of the Nepal Pro Club Championships before the Delhi Premier League (DPL) started. He played for Purani Dilli 6 last year and scored 221 runs in 8 matches. His aggressive batting style caught the eye of many.
A big moment was his 96 off 41 against East Delhi Riders which cemented his reputation as a big hitter. He hit 22 sixes in 9 matches, averaging 44.2 with a strike rate of 185.71. This season was good enough to get him an IPL 2025 chance where CSK picked him up for ₹55 lakh after outbidding SRH. Vansh talked about his experience with Purani Dilli 6, his time with CSK, his conversations with MS Dhoni and what he learned from his first IPL season.
Experience of captaining the side
Vansh said about leading the team in DPL, “It’s been great. It’s my first time as captain and I have tried to learn from last season especially from how Lalit Yadav handled things. The competition has not been a dream come true for us so far but I am enjoying the responsibility and I am confident we will recover.”

About his time in CSK’s dressing room, Vansh said, “It was wonderful. Every cricketer should experience it. The tradition and culture you learn there makes you appreciate the team even more. Being in that dressing room felt special.”
On having MS Dhoni in the team
Vansh mentioned Dhoni’s guidance as a wicketkeeper, “He helped a lot. He talked about staying composed in tough situations. It wasn’t just technical advice; it was mostly about dealing with stress and staying calm. He emphasizes mental strength.”
About a popular video featuring Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and himself Bedi said, (Laughs) They were standing below me so I joked, “We are all equals, come up here with me. They laughed about it.”
Experience of playing in IPL
About how playing in IPL has helped him in DPL, Vansh said, “It has been very beneficial. When you play at that level you realize that ups and downs are normal. You learn to accept bad days along with the good ones. It still affects me but I have gotten better at handling it.”
Shares about his injury
About an injury in IPL, Vansh Bedi said, “It was tough mentally especially since it happened before my debut. But I am grateful for CSK’s support, whether it was medical or financial. That meant a lot during that time.”
