Finally, for the team Royal Challengers Bangalore, the IPL trophy was won after an 18-year drought, with RCB finally overcoming Punjab Kings in 2025. This victory would come to signify the first-ever triumph of RCB, marking the end of years of suffering and despair among the great fan following. The win sparked the social media space, and the former RCB owner, Vijay Mallya, also said a few words in celebration of this much-awaited win.
Mallya, who has been associated with RCB since its inception in 2008, was instrumental in bringing legends such as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle to the team. And when Kohli raised the IPL trophy, Gayle and De Villiers were there to celebrate along.
Mallya congratulated the team on X (formerly Twitter) stating, “RCB are IPL Champions finally after 18 years! They had a great campaign this year. Huge congrats! Ee sala cup namde!!” He also reminisced over the story of vessel:
“When I started RCB, I dreamed of bringing the IPL trophy to Bengaluru. I’m proud to have picked young Kohli and have him stick with RCB for all these years, along with Gayle and AB De Villiers, who are part of our history. Finally, the trophy is here. Congrats to everyone who helped make this happen. RCB fans are the best, and they truly deserve this win. Ee Sala Cup Bengaluru baruthe!”
