Former South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir played for the Proteas for the last time in the ODI World Cup 2019. He, alongside JP Duminy, announced their retirements from international cricket, although Tahir retired from ODIs only. The Pakistan-born player had the ambition of playing for the Proteas in the T20 World Cup 2021 but the selectors had moved on by then.
However, the 45-year-old continues to play franchise cricket across the globe. He is currently playing for Joburg Super Kings (JSK), an SA20 side and the subsidiary franchise of Chennai Super Kings. During JSK’s match with the Durban SuperGiants, Tahir took a diving catch to remove Wiaan Mulder from the crease. The latter played a reverse sweep but was caught at backward point by Tahir.
The incident happened during DSG’s innings in the seventh over. This over was bowled by part-timer Donovan Ferreira. Bowling from round the wicket, Ferreira aimed at the middle and leg stump line of Mulder. Talking about the game, the Yellow Brigade, JSK batted first and got 169/7 on the board. In reply, the 2023 finalists managed to get only 141 all-out, losing the game by 28 runs.

Imran Tahir is part of the Super Kings franchises since 2018
The former Pakistan U19 player has been part of the Super Kings franchise since 2018. He was part of the CSK’s winning teams in 2018 and 2021. Tahir has been part of the Joburg Super Kings since last season. Apart from this, he continues to play in the Lanka Premier League, T20 Blast and The Hundred in England, Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League and the Pakistan Super League.
