On Monday, the International Cricket Council declared the entry of seven new members into its Hall of Fame. Among these new entrants, former skipper MS Dhoni stands as the sole Indian, joining the ranks of greats such as Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith, Sana Mir, Sarah Taylor, Matthew Hayden, and Daniel Vettori. He is the eleventh Indian cricketer to receive this honor, much to the fanfare of many Indian cricket enthusiasts.
The mention triggered questions from many as to why Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have not been inducted. Both players have been very important for the Indian team, breaking records and leading the team to several landmark victories across all forms of the game. It is this kind of question from the fans that shows it feels odd to have such brilliant players missing from this select list.

It must be mentioned that the ICC prohibits the induction of active players into the Hall of Fame. The player should have retired for five years at least before consideration. Even though Kohli and Rohit have withdrawn themselves from the Test format and T20s, they still continue to feature in ODIs.
So they must wait for at least five years after they’ve hung all their boots before getting into this Hall of Fame. The duo was expected to be back in the field in August for India’s ODI series against Bangladesh.
