After 18 long years of trying, Virat Kohli and the Royal Challengers Bangalore finally snagged their first IPL trophy on June 3, marking the end of the IPL 2025 season. It’s worth mentioning that Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 12, 2025. Now, with only ODIs left to play internationally, Kohli is stepping back from all other formats.
This change comes at a time when ODIs aren’t getting as much attention because T20 cricket is on the rise. With the T20 World Cup set for 2026, many teams are focusing more on that format.
Kohli is expected to make his comeback in August when India heads to Bangladesh for a white-ball series that includes three ODIs and three T20Is. The first ODI kicks off on August 17 in Dhaka, followed by the second match there on August 20, and the last ODI on August 23 at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium.
After the Bangladesh series, Kohli will be back in action in October when India visits Australia for a key limited-overs series featuring three ODIs and five T20Is.
Here’s a quick look at India’s ODI schedule in 2025:
– 3 ODIs vs Bangladesh on August 17, 20, and 23
– 3 ODIs vs Australia on October 19, 23, and 25
– 3 ODIs vs South Africa on November 30, December 3, and 6.
