Mark Wood, the England fast bowler, is hoping to be fit for the fifth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against India. The series started on June 20 at Headingley and ends with the final Test at Kennington Oval in London from July 31 to August 4.
Wood injured his left knee during the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the UAE and had surgery in March. Since then he’s been in rehab. After the first day of the Headingley Test he said he’s started bowling again and he’s back.
Rehab is going well. I’ve just started bowling lightly so I’m officially back in the mix, Wood told BBC Test Match Special. I’m still hoping to contribute to this series and see some of the players I might face. I’m aiming for the last Test. Anything before that might be too early but that’s the goal for now.

He said his comeback has been slow to start with but it’s picking up pace with more bowling. I still hope to be involved at the end of the series but we’ll see, he added.
England had a tough time with injuries before the series started. Wood was a doubt for all five Tests and Gus Atkinson and Jofra Archer missed the first Test due to their own injuries. Both are expected to be back for the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham from July 2-6.

England’s inexperience in the bowling department was evident on Friday as India scored 359/3 at Stumps thanks to centuries from Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chris Woakes, who recently returned from injury, didn’t look his best while Ben Stokes (2/43) and Brydon Carse (1/70) took the only wickets.
