Former India cricketer Yograj Singh, famous for his outspokenness, thinks Shama should be embarrassed for her post deleted now in which she suggested Rohit to shed weight along with calling him “the most unimpressive captain’ the country has ever had.
“jiska kaam usi ko saaje aur kare to danda baaje (the work only suits those skilled enough to do it; if done by anyone else, it’s ruined).” I just want to say one thing. More important to me than my own life are Indian cricketers, the land, and people. Yograj told news agency ANI: “A player who has brought pride to our country is sorry to be shamed by someone in the political scene making such a statement.
Father of iconic allrounder and two time world cup champion Yuvraj Singh, Yograj Singh, also mentioned that he would have asked people mocking athletes to leave the nation as he called for action on Shama.
“They have no authority to be in our country. Cricket is our religion; we lost to Australia and New Zealand, and Rohit and Virat were greatly talked upon. We defended their point. I’m very sorry for it. This is how Pakistan goes along. Their former star player remarked, “Who will eat so many bananas?” (jab at Wasim Akram). Action has to be started. This should not be accepted. Yograj said: “Were I the prime minister, I would have said,’Pack your bags and leave.’
Shama stated after removing her post that she has been assaulted for “no cause.
The post was a run-of-the-mill tweet on an athlete’s physical condition. This is not body-shaming. I always thought an athlete should be fit; I felt he was somewhat heavy, therefore I only posted about this. I’ve under no circumstances been assaulted. After I matched him with prior captains, I included a declaration. I have the right. She said, “It is a democracy; what is wrong in saying that?
Congress senior chief Pawan Khera said last X that the party does not support the remarks of its national spokesman.
“Dr. National Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress Shama Mohammed made some comments on a cricketing great that do not mirror the party’s stance,” Khera wrote in an X post.
She has been requested to remove the relevant social media posts from X and advised to be more careful going forward. He said the Indian National Congress respects most highly the contributions of sports legends and does not support any remarks detracting their legacy.
