In a recent match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants bowler Digvesh Singh found himself in hot water after he gave a rather over-the-top send-off to Punjab Kings batter Priyansh Arya. This took place during an IPL 2025 game on Tuesday evening, where Arya got out for just eight runs in the third over while the Kings were chasing a target of 172 runs.
Digvesh, a legspinner, had bowled a short delivery that Arya tried to pull off. Unfortunately, he didn’t get it right, resulting in a top-edge that Shardul Thakur easily caught after sprinting in from mid-on. As Arya turned to head back to the dugout, Digvesh ran after him and pretended to write Arya’s name in an imaginary notebook as a kind of mock celebration. Arya seemed to brush it off and continued walking without a word.
It’s worth mentioning that both players had actually been teammates in the previous year’s Delhi Premier League, which makes the send-off even more surprising. However, the IPL is pretty strict about behavior on the field. Because of his antics, the league hit Digvesh with a fine amounting to 25% of his match fee, along with a demerit point added to his record for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
