The Pahalgam carnage is really a very devastating reality for everyone in India; people are in deep shock and fear concerning the situation. Sourav Ganguly, a legendary former Indian cricket captain, spoke out his views concerning this tragic situation. He expressed condolences for the demise of people and on those lines called for India’s severing of ties with Pakistan for such matters, making it very clear that Ganguly believes it is unacceptable for attacks of this nature to occur every year.
He blows to the media, “Absolutely we should break with Pakistan. Tough measures have to be taken. These events are too frequent. And terrorism should be tolerated.” Very strong and very articulate, one can be sure of his views. This cricket star, along with Sachin Tendulkar, another cricket legend, went on social media to express his disappointment over the attack. He wrote, “I’m completely shocked and saddened by the tragic attacks on innocent civilians at Pahalgam. The consequences of such an act will have to bear by the affected families that are indeed unimaginable. India and the world together stand with them today in this period of darkness remembering the lost ones and praying for justice.”

“I think of the families that lost their loved ones during that incident in Pahalgam. The government has to take strong action against whosoever is responsible. No one should escape,” added Ganguly. You can see that both cricketers empathize with the victims and their families in this unfortunate event.
Interestingly enough, just a few days ago, the home minister Amit Shah visited the family members of the victims in Srinagar. He visited them outside the Police Control Room to provide help during this difficult period.
The incident has really cast its darkest shadow on the sports relationship between the two countries, and now there are reports-the first ones saying that BCCI had requested ICC not to allow Pakistan to play against India in any major tournament-well all proved wrong in the end. For now, there isn’t really any official announcement on that front. After all, it goes to show how it ripples out beyond the individual incidents to create issues in areas such as sport and diplomacy between countries.
