Shahrukh Khan, the player for Gujarat Titans, offered some remarks in reply to one of his teammates, Rinku Singh, who stated that there should be no surprises when one team scores 300 runs during an innings in an Indian Premier League (IPL) game. Rinku’s statement, however, was fuel to discussions from Dale Steyn, the former South African cricketer who predicted that we would see at least a score of over 300 in the match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Shahrukh expressed his thoughts before the Titans’ Monday match against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, during his pre-match press conference. He emphasized that aiming for some decidedly specific score, like 300 runs, before you even set foot on the field just isn’t realistic. You really can’t set up a target in stone since you don’t know how the pitch is going to behave on that day, he revealed. And he even added that you could be all set to aim for a big sure-shot score, but then rains and a damp pitch do the normal detour with you.
He elaborated further, sitting on the fact that the game is very unpredictable and a really strong plan before the match is important. I may not be clear on what someone else said about aiming for 300, but in my opinion, there needs to be a balance. If you manage to score around 200 runs, your bowlers need to step up and defend that score. And then if you want to push for something really high like 300, bear in mind that the opposing team is also going to be out there trying to chase it down, he remarked.
The batter also said that Titans have got 3 innings scoring over 200 runs in IPL 2025, which was the highest at 232 for five against the Punjab Kings but lost the match at their home ground in Ahmedabad. He kept it real regarding the game, saying, Honestly, it’s straightforward: it all boils down to how well you read the conditions when it’s your turn. You can’t label a fixed target before to the game. We never do that. Why make things simple? Just work on solid gameplay.
Currently, the Titans pictured pretty well at number 2 in the points table with 12 points and had a decent net run rate of +1.104. They are on the verge of making it to a playoff spot, and it will be interesting to see how they will manage in their upcoming matches.
