BCCI has called a meeting for the IPL Mega Auction 2025 and has invited all franchise owners to discuss the same on Wednesday, 31 July, 2024. The meeting went on for over two years and it seemed like the meeting didn’t end with any conclusions so far. Franchises were divided and had different views over the mega auction and other player retention.
BCCI has been in action and has heard all the franchise debate over player retention, Right to Match card, overseas players and much IPL 2025 related concerns in a meeting organized by the BCCI on wednesday at Wankhede stadium Mumbai.
All the 10 franchise owners were invited to be part of the meeting and were present in the meeting.eam owners or co-owners who attended the meeting included Shah Rukh Khan from Kolkata Knight Riders, Kavya Maran from Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ness Wadia from Punjab Kings, and Sanjiv Goenka with his son Shashwat from Lucknow Super Giants. KK Grand and Parth Jindal represented Delhi Capitals. While the others including Manoj Badale and Ranjit Barthakur from Rajasthan Royals, Prathamesh Mishra from Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kari Viswanathan and Rupa Gurunath from Chennai Super Kings, and Amit Soni from Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani attended the meet virtually.

Although the details of the meeting are yet to unfold and fans as well as all franchises are waiting for the official words of the BCCI. The meeting went for a long two hours where different franchises gave their different opinions on the IPL mega auction, player retention, salary cap and IPL Purse.
Talking on details of the meeting, Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal said that- “No real outcome. It was just to hear all the different perspectives from all the owners and the BCCI has heard us and now they will give us all the rules. Hopefully, by the end of August we will get to know the rules for the next cycle,”
Talking to reporters he also said that the meeting has ended with no consensus among players in the context of the number of players that they wanted to retain for the mega auction. He said some want 8 or some want 10.

After a long debate of more than 2 hours, BCCI Head Jay shah announced that- “The franchise owners tabled feedback on player regulations and other commercial aspects, including central merchandising, licensing, and gaming.
The BCCI will now take these recommendations to the IPL Governing Council for further deliberation and evaluation before formulating the IPL player regulations.”
Future updates on this will be made live officially once the board and directory announces the new rules for Mega Auction 2025.
