India is all set for the big Test series against England starting June 20 in Leeds. Shubman Gill has confirmed he’ll be batting at number 4. He said, “After Virat bhai retired, I spoke to GG bhai and he told me to bat at 4. I also wanted to bat at 4.”
Number 4 has always been a crucial position in the Indian Test lineup, which was previously occupied by Virat Kohli. With his skills and composure under pressure, Gill seems to be the right man to fill this role.

India will be counting on Gill to support the innings and steady things against a strong English bowling attack, especially with conditions that can trouble players from subcontinental background.
Shubman batted at number 3 in 17 matches and scored 1019 runs at 37.74 with 3 centuries and 3 fifties—all at home. In 7 Tests abroad he scored 212 runs at 19.27. With captaincy now on his plate, he also has to carry on the legacy of number 4 spot which was made famous by Virat and Tendulkar.
