SRH appoints Varun Aaron as new bowling coach, he will join before 2026 IPL, replaces James Franklin who was the coach in 2025. Aaron was a right-arm fast bowler and played 9 Tests and 9 ODIs for India, took 18 Test wickets and 11 ODI wickets. He played 52 IPL matches, last played in 2022 for Gujarat Titans (GT).
Aaron played for Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals (RR), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL. He has 44 wickets in 52 games, average 33.66.
SRH announced the news on their X (previously Twitter) account, “A fiery addition to our coaching staff! Welcome Varun Aaron as our new bowling coach.”
Aaron was a commentator in 2025 IPL, he will replace Franklin. Franklin was the bowling coach of SRH in 2025.
SRH didn’t make it to the playoffs in 2025. Under Pat Cummins, the team finished 6th with 13 points, won 6 and lost 7 out of 14 matches. One match had no result.

Heinrich Klaasen (487) and Abhishek Sharma (439) were the top scorers for SRH in the tournament. Pat Cummins and Harshal Patel took 16 wickets each, most for the team. SRH finished 2nd in 2024.
