According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Australia’s captain Mitchell Marsh has said he won’t bowl for the foreseeable future. After back issues he’ll play as a batter in all formats. He was out of the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year due to injury.

Owen will debut but Short had a minor side strain in practice so he won’t play in the series and has gone home. Jake-Fraser McGurk who was brought back into the team as a replacement for Spencer Johnson will play in the first game.
Since the visiting team is resting many senior players like Travis Head, Alex Carey and fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood this series gives them an opportunity to blood the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next year.
First we’re always talking about, representing Australia and we’re here to win the series. That’s how we want to approach things, Australia’s T20I captain Mitch Marsh told cricket.com.au.
Some guys will get a chance. Obviously we have a few guys not around for this series due to a well earned rest, he added.
