Lancashire Cricket Club has named a stand at Old Trafford in Manchester after Indian cricket legend Farokh Engineer. The unveiling took place on the first day of the fourth Test match between India and England.
Engineer was present at the game along with his former Lancashire teammate Clive Lloyd, the two-time World Cup winning captain of the West Indies.
Who is Farokh Engineer?
Farokh Engineer is a former Indian cricketer who was a wicketkeeper and a batsman. In 46 Test matches for India, he scored 2611 runs, 16 fifties and 2 centuries, average 31.08.
Beyond his India career, Engineer played First-Class cricket for Mumbai. He played nearly 10 years for Lancashire and was a well known figure in English domestic cricket.
During his 8 years with Lancashire from 1968 to 1976, Engineer was the mainstay of the team in the County Championship. He scored 5942 runs, 429 catches and 35 stumpings

Engineer is a great player in India and England history, the Lancashire Cricket Club decided to express their gratitude by naming a stand in his honour. The stand was unveiled on the first day of the Test match between India and England, in memory of his glorious career.
